The Client Relationship Is with the Groomer, Not the Shop
Pet grooming is among the most relationship-dependent service businesses in the SMB market. Pet owners choose groomers based on trust, comfort with how their pet is handled, and the personal rapport between groomer and animal, not based on price or location alone. When the founding groomer sells and steps away, a meaningful percentage of the client base may follow the individual rather than stay with the location. Before setting your offer, understand how client appointments are booked: through the business's system, or through the individual groomer's personal contacts and phone? Shops where all appointments flow through a centralized booking system and brand identity have more defensible client bases than those where individual groomers manage their own books informally.
